Shift into neutral and enjoy the ride….
We have just returned from a wonderful vacation to Telluride, Colorado. The weather was temperate, a wonderful reprieve from the 100+ degree Texas heat. If you have not been to this charming town, I highly recommend it. It is understated in a way that some of the other ski resort areas are high-octane (I’m not going to name names but you know exactly where I am talking about-). I’m all about low-key. Let me show you Telluride- a photographic tour…
The gorgeous views are everywhere. The elevation is about 8,750 to 9,600- so if you are sensitive to high elevation, be forewarned.
The town is lovely and has a low-key western ski vibe.
…and beautiful architecture, with nods to Victorian history
No shortage of banks… $$$$
or dogs… Telluride is one of the most dog friendly places I have ever seen. As a dog lover, music to my eyes!
There is even Mountain Tails boutique to cater to our four-legged friends- with toys, treats, custom collars, and so much more.
This resort town has a range of restaurants sure to please the most demanding expectations- ranging from traditional French to authentic Mexican to nouvelle cuisine, steakhouses, sushi restaurants, Italian, pizza, burgers, you name it… it’s all good.
Libations are in abundance too. Many places to stop and have a cup of coffee, a cocktail, and liquor stores sure to please the most discerning wine palettes. Above: Telluride Bottle Works
Shopping shopping shopping…
Even high-end trunk shows come through Telluride, such as the Maria Lightfoot Collection, a much sought after line that I was introduced to in Texas and happened to run into while in Telluride. If you missed the trunk show, check her collection out online- The Modern Tribal Collection: very hip, very now, fitting in beautifully with the western look.
and shopping for the home…but you’ll have to wait for that, it is a different post all of its own! Above: T. Karn Imports
Culture, art, festivals… Telluride is sophisticated~ Above is the Telluride Gallery of Fine Art.
Above, the Gondola, the scenic mode of transportation between Mountain Village and Downtown.
…breathtaking Aspen Groves…
Hiking trails
The views change when you are in Mountain Village. This view is from The Peaks Resort.
There is some beautiful Real Estate inventory right now in Telluride. 43% of the properties are owner occupied, 26% are renter occupied, and 31% are vacant. If you have interest in seeing available properties, I have a recommendation.
Telluride is THE PLACE to relax, recharge, get inspired. On the other hand, there is plenty to do if you need constant entertainment, kid friendly activities, outdoor adventures, fine dining, spa services, natural beauty to go explore, shopping, culture, festivals aplenty, you name it. In my next post I will fill you in on the design styles of Telluride and the resources… stay tuned…
Beautiful photos! It looks just like the town in Open Season. 🙂
Thanks Irma! It was the perfect time to be there. 🙂
Wow, Telluride looks amazing. I had only thought about it for skiing but this looks like a wonderful place to spend time in the summer. Have to put this on a future itinerary for sure. Oh, and spill on those boots you have on – love.
Lisa
You would love it in the summer, Lisa. I got engaged there in the summer -in hopes that I would love it too! Of all the shoes I packed, those boots were just about the only shoes I wore.
Beautiful photos- takes me back to all the summers we spent there when our children were young. Not only dog friendly, but kids too. Our daughter learned to ride without training wheels there. And the San Miguel is a wonderful fly fishing venue. Something for everyone.
OK, your daughter is BOLD, that’s all I have to say… not many flat surfaces there! I thought of you with all of the antler decor, you should have a store there Rita!
I want to go to there. Blogger retreat? I have writer friends that live there and are talking about a small writer’s conference get-to-gether. Maybe we should link those things. Not enough time in life to live all the lives we could imagine.
Let’s link away, Ann!!! 🙂
What gorgeous shots, you had me drooling for Telluride. You sure know how to make a tale or a town come to life through your lens and senses.
thank you Jen!
Beautiful Courtney! Telluride is such a charming city and stunning too!
Donna
It is a peaceful place to get away. Thank you Donna.
