This week, in Huffington Post I shared my Top 5 Recommendations for Spring and Summer Cocktails. #1 was the Pimms Cup. If you don’t know the context for this drink choice, I feel that I owe you a quick tour of the Napoleon House, a New Orleans institution:
Housed in a historic landmark in the French Quarter dating from 1797 and family owned since 1914, this European-style café serves local fare and cocktails aplenty. The atmosphere is unique and casual, the music is classic New Orleans. And, bonus: there is a patio courtyard…
This plaque is on the building, just to the side of the front door. How’s that for a little Louisiana history-
The welcome mat- now that is some permanent southern hospitality… everybody is always welcome at Napoleon House.
The exterior is certainly looking historic at the moment, but that’s part of the charm, right…?
In case you missed the recipe, this is one you will want for your warm weather entertaining:
PIMMS CUP COCKTAIL
Fill a tall 12 oz glass with ice and add 1 1/4 oz. Pimm’s #1 and 3 oz lemonade.
Then top off with 7up.Garnish with cucumber, orange slices, strawberries, mint

The Pimms Cup has long been one of my hot weather favs….but I must revisit Napolean House for one. And yes, the historic looking architecture is part of the charm I expect to see. In fact, I had a Pimms yesterday at the conclusion of my work on our Fiesta event …The Battle of Flowers Parade.
