Kips Bay Showhouse benefits the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential programs and services to empower and support young people in underserved communities. The funds raised from the showhouse go towards funding educational and enrichment opportunities, mentorship programs, and a safe environment for children and teens to thrive. By attending the showhouse, you’re not only immersing yourself in the world of design but also making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals in need.
With a colorful history beginning in 1902, the River Mansion has been home to several notable residents including actress Julia Marlowe, and the Bronfman family including Edgar, Sherry B. and Hannah Bronfman. Let’s take a look at how this year’s talented Kips Bay NYC Showhouse designers transformed the rooms of the River Mansion:
337 Riverside Drive at West 106th Street
The floor plan calls the below room a bedroom, but it is a serene sitting room located on the first floor with lovely textures- wallpaper, rug, upholstery. Design by Penny Drue Baird of Dessins LLC.
Ms. Baird creates atmospheres filled with architectural detail, warmth, and sophisticated charm; she has a penchant for European traditions and style. She is known for her in-depth knowledge of sources, especially in Western Europe. Baird divides her time between her offices on Madison Avenue and her outpost in Paris. Dedicated to creating highly personalized homes for her clients, Ms. Baird inspires her creativity by traveling through Paris, London and the English and French countrysides in relentless pursuit of unique, fine antiques, objects d’art, and cutting edge new design furnishings that her clients will not see in other homes.

David Scott Interiors is a New York multidisciplinary team of designers and architects specializing in sensitively conceived interiors where innovative architecture, luxurious furnishings and emerging art and craft harmoniously coexist. David established the firm with a belief that interiors should reflect the style and personality of its owner, not simply its designer. It is this collaborative approach that has become a signature of David Scott Interiors distinguished style. It is the natural connection a client has with their home that drives each design resulting in a portfolio of highly personal environments.

2nd Floor Living Room by Ghislaine Viñas (below)
Ghislaine Viñas is a radical visionary whose renown stems from her studio’s award-winning, international interior design, product design and creative direction. Originally from the Netherlands and raised in South Africa, Ghislaine launched her design studio in 1999 in New York City, which still functions as the nucleus for the Ghislaine Viñas brand, and a laboratory for all of her creative endeavors.

Designer, Kesha Franklin’s intuitive sense of style, creativity and harmony goes back to her formative years, where she was introduced to the world of beauty and design through her father’s vast collection of Architectural Digest and the renowned GQ magazine. The exposure to art, luxurious interiors and fine men’s wear was what captivated her creativity.
Kesha explored that attraction and the artist in her was unlocked through various creative outlets. She spent years immersed in the exclusive world of couture fashion as a backstage production manager and wardrobe stylist for the iconic Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Surrounded by the work of well-known designers such as Vera Wang, Jason Wu, Michael Kors, Donna Karen and Lanvin, sharpened her attention to detail, her eye for exquisite styling and sensibility for luxury.

Timothy Corrigan is one of the world’s leading interior designers. With offices in Los Angeles and Paris his firm has completed projects in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and across the United States.
He has been named to virtually every top designer list including Architectural Digest’s AD100, the Elle Decor A-List, Robb Report’s Top 40 Designers in the World, the Luxe Gold List, 1stdibs 50, the Design Icon Award, ICAA Legacy Award, and the Pacific Design Center’s Star of Design. He is the only American honored by the French Heritage Society for his restoration of several national landmarks in France. The firm’s work has been featured in over 1000 publications worldwide.

From an 1000-square-foot apartment in San Francisco’s The Pacific Building to a 6,000-square-foot Fifth Avenue pre-war apartment in Manhattan to a 25,000 square-foot estate in Silicon Valley, Jay Jeffers offers a full range of concept-to-installation services including interior architecture, custom furniture design, art and antiques acquisitions and decoration. Seamlessly executing commissions all over the Bay Area, California, New York, Texas and Florida, Jeffers personally oversees each project with the support of a dedicated 15-person team–a staff with over 50 years of combined professional experience.

Georgis & Mirgorodsky works collaboratively with clients in a variety of styles—the past and present and an obsession with detail and craft inform all projects.
The firm has designed and completed numerous residential, institutional, and commercial projects in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. These include new houses in Southampton, New York, the Bahamas, Montana, La Jolla, California, Aspen and New York City, the Tiffany Gallery at the Museum of the City of New York, The Grill and The Pool restaurants at New York’s Seagram Building, interiors of a Gulfstream G650 jet, and the renovation of the public spaces of the landmarked Lever House in New York City. In addition, the firm has completed the design of Manhattan condominium projects at 350 West Broadway, 530 Park Avenue and 100 East 53rd Street. Georgis & Mirgorodsky has also completed designs for the Gramercy Park Hotel and a line of furniture for Maison Gerard, New York.

Mary McDonald is an award winning, internationally published Los Angeles-based interior designer. She is the author of “Interiors: The Allure of Style” from Rizzoli publishing and has been honored as one of the top 25 designers by Veranda Magazine. This event began in 1973 when several dedicated supporters of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club launched the Decorator Show House to raise critical funds for much needed after school and enrichment programs for New York City children. Over the course of four decades, this project has grown into a must-see event for thousands of design enthusiasts and is renowned for sparking interior design trends throughout the world.
