The best holiday party invite ever? The one I got from GOOGLE to their event on Friday night. What an honor to be invited, with a friend, to their evening of pampering – the perfect Rx for an ice storm – hair, makeup, champagne/wine, and … getting to browse the new Nexus 7 tablet, which certainly gives the iPad a run for its money.
It is about the same size as the iPad mini, but a little narrower for better fit in the hand. The Nexus 7 tablet boasts surround sound, “Google Voice” activation- very cool…for Google searches, the ability to set up multiple separated-content users (so you don’t have to wade through your kid’s apps), advanced parent controls, video conference calling with up to 10 people, a gorgeous HD screen, speed, battery life that blows all tablets in its segment out of the water, …. I could go on, but you might want to check this tablet out for yourself…
Mashable’s Pete Pachal reviewed this as the best Android tablet on the market. I can see why.
Hair by Drybar and makeup by Blushington, hard to beat that! Dallas bloggers got to electronically browse their favorite magazines and Nexus 7 apps while the stylish Google and Nexus 7 representatives circulated to answer questions. Leave it to Google to cleverly put the social into the media while preparing their guests for their various Friday nights out. You KNOW what each and every guest enthusiastically talked, tweeted, instagrammed about! Brilliant social media campaign.
Maggie Langston, my +1 for the event, with the party favor Google generously sent home with each of us (!!!!!).
Fa la la la la…. THANK YOU GOOGLE!!!!

So what you are saying is we may need to look beyond Apple for our next tablet? Sounds like a great event.
Yes, Google has taken it to the next level with some interesting new features…and the size is great for carrying in your purse, briefcase etc.
That’s so exciting Courtney! What a great event to be a part of. Can’t wait to hear all about it, and your comparisons of the Nexus and iPad!
Donna
Thank you Donna! Hope to see you soon. xx
very clever event – I can’t imagine how much fun that would have been (seriously, because I’m a dude). Wonder if Google is planning on one for men where there’s scotch, sports on TV, sports apps on the Nexus, etc.
Sounds like fun event – both before, during and after.
LOL, and I wondered the same thing, Bob…
As an obsessive tech person, I have both, an IPad mini (bought a few days ago) and a Google Nexus 7. Each has its strong points and each is a delight to use. But, wow, what a party that must have been!! Enjoy your Nexus 7 – it’s awesome!!
I think I would rephrase that, since I know you, to a thorough tech person! 🙂 xx
Well, Google sure picked the right gal to invite….you! I really love the pics my ipad takes, but sometimes the size is a little awkward, how do you like the Google camera?
Thank you Rita! I haven’t gotten to the camera yet, will check it out and let you know…
Tres cool for ice storm entertainment !
Sounds like Google has hit a triple with this one ..
Thanks for sharing !
How cool!! what a great event. how are you liking the tablet?
