On a recent trip to New York I stayed in an amazing hotel -The London. It is well located in Midtown, and is a business travelers dream come true. All rooms are suites. There are 560 suites total, approximately 15 of which are upgraded from their standard of luxury. I stayed in a “regular” suite and it was one of the biggest rooms I have ever had in NYC, about 500 sq feet and very well-considered, down to the detail. Let’s go take a look at this awesome hotel. Put on your seatbelt, because this will be an image rich post (which is a compliment to this property…) with lots of travel eye candy.
The London NYC was created to provide a hotel experience for sophisticated travelers that combines sophisticated, modern style and intuitive, “all-access” service.
This hip hotel was designed by David Collins Studio. Note the clever pattern repeating from ceiling to floor, to custom mirrors and doors, the silk map (by Fromenthal) of Hyde Park above the front desk. The textures are well thought out, using materials such as leather, ultra suede, limed oak wood floors, silks.
These are the kind of rooms that you could actually hang OUT in, be productive, or relax. Or have a conversation with people. You won’t bump into yourself just trying to move around.
Bathrooms in all suites feature bath elements by luxury purveyor Waterworks. Showers include shaving mirrors, built IN to the tile pattern. Brilliant. Cozy robes and luxurious products are there waiting as well.
If you are like me, you have work to do when you travel. The London thinks of everything. They look out for their business travelers. Each suite has a separate room with a desk you will want to take home: a desk that anticipates your laptop and recharging needs, one that you can actually use. There is also a sitting area- yes, you can actually sit down and have a conversation in these NYC rooms. There are meeting rooms available. Wi-Fi is free. And get this- guests can call London for FREE!!!
Are you believing this view from my room? wow, just wow. *This is the view you get with a London Vista Suite.
So, sometimes guests decide that they want MORE of The London. As in, they want to stay for a while. Who can blame them. So the suites start at 500 sq ft, as you have seen, super nice, and go up in size to 2 bedroom (700 sq ft) suite, London Sky Suites (on the top 2 floors, for those of you who love a view), and London Apartments (1800 sq ft) if you plan to stay a while. Trust me, people DO stay a while here. Famous people. Not to name names, but… I probably shouldn’t. Here are a few visuals of the upgraded suites:
The London NYC Club: The 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center is better than any hotel gym I have ever seen.
