Summer is OVER, lovely readers- so we have a festive fall giveaway to help keep your skin soft, hair healthy and shiny, and breathing clear for the fall and winter season!
Cosmetic and health benefits courtesy of Aquasana, who provides a valuable service through their wonderful filter products that we should all know about and use.
A Few Shower Water Factoids:
- Tap water typically contains at or above the level of chlorine recommended for swimming pools
- A warm shower opens up the pores of the skin and allows a high rate of absorption of chlorine and other chemicals
- Studies show that more chemicals enter our bodies through skin absorption and steam inhalation than from drinking a gallon of the same water
- 70-90% of these chemicals also vaporize into the steam we inhale while showering, entering directly into our bloodstream, a suspected cause of asthma and bronchitis
- When the chemicals vaporize, they create chloroform
- “Chloroform [a known carcinogen] blood levels increase up to 100 times during a ten-minute shower in residential tap water” - Environmental Protection Agency – Dr. Lance Wallace
-
Chlorine causes dry itchy skin, drying of hair, split ends, dulling of hair color
- younger, smoother skin
- softer, healthier hair: bye bye split ends
- better lasting hair color and shine
- respiratory benefits

Great article, Courtney. I had never considered the chemical effect of shower water. I moved into a new Townhome last summer and do not have a water filter. The shower filter would be a great option!
Wao there are a lot of benefits. Younger looking skin? Sign -me up. I had never thought of this but it makes perfect sense. What a great giveaway
Hi Courtney. I have just finished my first juice cleanse, feeling great, and it has inspired me to do whatever I can to remove toxins from not only my diet but my home. Just yesterday I started looking online for a water filtration system. When I saw your post this morning I thought wow it’s a sign! Perhaps aquasana is exactly what I am looking for. Would love to give it a try!
Love the facts Courtney, and such an awesome giveaway!! I try to recommend these to my clients when building a new home or doing a major reconstruction!

A shower filter would mean less chlorine being absorbed into my and hubby’s skin. Sounds like a no brainer! Thanks, Courtney for always being on the watch for us!
Wow! I had no ideas showers could be so poisonous! Thank you for the info.
Love the idea of younger, smoother skin! I think I’ll share this with my friends attending our high school reunion this weekend! We would ALL like to look a few years younger! Thanks Courtney and Aquasana!
WOW, what a GREAT idea! The water in my area is extremely hard. I’ve never thought about the affects the water has on my skin, but I sure notice what it does to my tile and fixtures. Not only would this filter help my skin, but it sounds like it will cut down on water deposits too….it’s a win, win!!
Sounds like a wonderful product. The article was so informative that it would be something very beneficial. Thanks Courtney for sharing.
Found the article ost intriguing. The product sounds phenomenal and would be very beneficial for daily use. Much gratitude to Courtney for the information.
Used to have a shower filter by another manufacturer years ago and I can’t tell you how much better my skin & hair felt. And I live in an area where we have very soft water. To have that again would be absolutely terrific.
So… younger, smoother skin? Softer, healthier hair: bye bye split ends?
better lasting hair color and shine? Overall health benefits? I just celebrated 50, so by all means sign me up!!!
Courtney, come by and see our new bath in this 60 year old house. I know my choices for the bath were influenced by the pix and ideas in your blog.
