Having New Orleans roots comes with a certain mystique, so when we learned that Courtney Mullins Price hails from the city flecked with the fanciful fleurs-de-lis, the puzzle pieces explaining the new media savant began to fall into place. Globetrotting chef Anthony Bourdain says of NOLA, “Don’t even try to compare it to anywhere else.” We at Global Lighting would say the same for the spot Courtney inhabits with her trendsetting coverage of the design and tech worlds, especially when she is standing at the intersection of the two.
A designer at heart, she founded Courtney Price Design in 1999 and quickly became known for her ability to mix contemporary and classic styles—a talent she blames squarely on her hometown. Her mantra—“fine living expresses itself in the details”—might have been a harbinger of what was to come, as she became so well-known for her coverage of the country’s most luxurious lifestyle events that she may be spotted touring the offices of Silicon Valley’s tech giants one day (and covering the jaunt for The Huffington Post, to boot), in the Hamptons rubbing elbows with design’s elite at the decorator show house du jour the next, and toasting Veuve Clicquot while high-fiving with Nacho Figueras at a posh polo match the next!
She has been featured in Modern Luxury Interiors Texas for her social media work; nominated for ApartmentTherapy’s Best Home Design & Inspiration Blog; ranked in the Top 10 Interior Design Bloggers on Twitter and Top Interior Design Blogs on Instagram; tapped by Decorex as one of its Top 100 Influencers; and featured in Better Homes & Gardens and House Beautiful for her design work. She’s been a mainstay at high-end product launches, including Google’s; and she is an editorial contributor to The Huffington Post, Traditional Home and Dering Hall.
It’s no wonder her platform spans from the interior design world into chef-driven food and fine art: her formal education included studies in art history, the culinary arts, photography and interior design, and she took studio art as part of her training. Growing up in New Orleans meant she was surrounded by beautiful design, much of it containing antiques at its core, which enticed her to antique auctions from an early age—a passion that followed her through a stint in Washington, DC, to her current home city of Dallas, Texas. Showing her radar for tech is finely tuned, she chose the B.lux Eliana table lamp, designed by Manel Ybargüengoitia, as her pick of our products. We couldn’t be happier that this trendsetter agreed to be one of our tastemakers, and we can’t wait to see where her curiosity takes her next!
