Peach Ice Cream

Fresh Peaches, Ice Cream, Home Made Ice Cream, homemade ice cream

The peaches are absolutely glorious in the stores right now, I am surprised they are still in season. You know what that means, don’t you? Homemade Peach Ice Cream for our football watching guests tonight. The ice cream is churning right now as I type and I know for a fact there will be no leftovers; it is the best ever. I grew up eating this ice cream, and it will forever be the measure of good ice cream. Since I don’t have children to hand this family recipe down to, you lucky readers are hitting the jackpot. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, I recommend one with a stainless steel freezer bowl– that can live in the freezer so you are always minutes away from spur of the moment greatness.  Ice cream is so easy to make and requires so few ingredients that it is a good to be prepared.

Peach Ice Cream

1 1/2 Quarts of Ripe sliced fresh peaches

1 cup of Sugar

1/2 tsp Almond Extract

1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

2 cups Heavy Cream

2 cups half and half

1/8 tsp of salt

Sprinkle peaches with 1/2 of the sugar. Cover. Mix cream with remaining sugar, put mixture into ice cream maker, run ice cream machine until partially frozen. Stir in remaining ingredients, continue until it gets to a firm soft ice cream consistency. Serve immediately or spoon into container to put in freezer -because if you don’t act fast it will continue to freeze to the sides of the freezer bowl and you will get less ice cream. Hand wash freezer bowl (do not put in dishwasher), dry and return to freezer, wrapped up so it will stay clean and ready for the next batch. I seriously doubt you will have leftovers. Enjoy~
