For those of you who live near Dallas or plan to be in the neighborhood, I want you to know about a wonderful Uptown neighborhood gem: Jo Jo Eating House & Bar. The Chef & Partner is internationally acclaimed Chef Laurent Poupart, from France, where he began working in a Michelin 3 star restaurant at the age of 14… So imagine how great he is now- seriously talented. We are so lucky to have this eating experience in Dallas- he incorporates the freshest ingredients to his impressive culinary skills. The food is top quality, beautifully presented, every ingredient fresh and every item on the menu from scratch. Fantastic dinner, lunch, brunch, desserts (the pastry chef is also fantastic), impressive wine selection, even a separate pizza menu (we’re talking wood burning pizza oven….). The gorgeous bar area does a great drinks and pizza business. If you are in the area, check it out and you will see why it is so popular.
If you are not in the area, sorry to taunt you with the greatness of this restaurant. The Bar Manager is so nice that he gave us a holiday drink for our entertaining purposes… thank you Scott Simpson, who, note to readers, makes the JoJo experience delightful with his enthusiasm, gracious spirit and knowledge of fine wines and fun cocktails. Here’s what he gave us:
1 1/2 oz Vodka
1 1/2 oz Kahlua coffee liqueur
1 oz white creme de cacao
Pour ingredients into shaker filled with ice, shake vigorously, and strain into chilled martini glass. It should be somewhat frothy.
In the new year, the Chef plans to open his doors on Sunday evening to cooking classes that incorporate wine tasting/pairing (did I tell you yet about the private wine collection? It’s serious…). He plans to show us the artistic side of the culinary world, like he views it, bringing chefs in from New York, etc to collaborate with him, sharing the beauty of what he does. Sign me up- I can’t WAIT! See you there??
