Small Space Solution: Acrylic Furniture

In the play of positive vs negative space, acrylic furniture has a way of not crowding a room. It is a chic retro addition to today’s interiors that adds sparkle and spacially pleases the eye.

Console Yourself – Console Tables In Interior Design

Console tables have a long history of being a hot commodity among designers because of their functionality and good looks.

The photo below of Coco Chanel’s foyer in Paris highlights the console table’s ability to transform interiors:

History of the Console Table:

Console tables come to us from french furniture designs of the 18th century. Originally, they were small, half-moon shaped tables fastened to the wall at counter height with a “console”, which is a little curved bracket. Sometimes these special little tables had front legs to make it look like it was free-standing. Eventually, they did become free-standing, still with the half-moon shape, or sometimes a small rectangular shape. Over time, these little tables evolved to become as useful as they were decorative.

Kitchens Are the New Living Rooms

Gone are the days when the formal living room was used to entertain the occasional important guest, and otherwise collected dust. People are repurposing the living room space and turning their attention to making their kitchens open and inviting. Let’s face it, the kitchen has become the hub of the home, used for entertainment and family relaxation. So why not make it great?

Last week at the Design Bloggers Conference in L.A., Jenn-Air shared their product line with the designers. Stainless steel is still very in, and the product line is increasingly professional and well thought out – see photos below, courtesy of Jenn-Air:

Lots of under counter appliances…

Even a microwave under-counter drawer,

and refrigeration…

Glad people are giving kitchens the attention they deserve. Bon Appétit and Cheers!
